I still kept the advise a doctor once told me about limiting the intake of medicine to your child unless of course it deemed necessary. My past experience caring for Vinoun when he was sick gave me a lot of medicinal information giving me the type of a peculiar mom that will "interview" the doctor rather than ask. Yet, there is no harm done looking for a second opinion when perhaps you are not satisfied with the given advise of the medical practitioner.
I'd like to share what I have learned and took into practice which I thought was the best care for my children.
Vin got these thick dandruff like on his scalp up until he was 2 years old. It's termed Cradle Cap. A doctor prescribed me with "Elomet" a water substance non-oral base that was suppose to soften the infected area and too bad it didn't work for vin. A magic oil called "Johnson's baby oil" actually did the trick in less than a week! I just have to massage the oil on his scalp, leave it until his bath time and re-do it daily. Thanks to Dr.Dorling Kindersley on her book entitled Mother & Baby Care.
You can find lots of information about your baby skin conditions at Web.Md. I love this site as it's in a layman term and you can find good information for your children especially their health wise.
I have been told by a doctor that these drugs if taken continuously in longer period will damage your baby's liver. Also, I took into account that when my baby has fever, flu and cough at the same time, I only feed them flu medicine for a few days and stop. Then decreasing the amount of fever & Cough medicine after a week or so depending on my baby's well being.
This action was also taken from a doctor's advise that flu is not an illness, it is only a symptom of a sickness and decreasing the amount of medicine intake for your baby is another way of saying drug-free baby feeding.
However, there are quite a few types of eyes infections for babies, the symptoms are almost the same but still doctor's consultation is the best. If you need to find more about baby's eyes infection, this website that I have found is great ~ Askamum (Love the web name, geddit?)
Oh,one more thing and it's isn't the prettiest thing to share but I suppose it will benefit others. we can never be too careful with our children, same here. Warning : Baby Walkers are not Safe (when you are not around). and I was too busy doing my chores letting Avan fell off and bumped his head. I can never forgive myself.never. I did whatever I can think of and silently I cowardly fears of damaging his little precious brain because of the fall. Thanks be to Jesus the doctor said it's just a small bump and no ICT scan is necessary after examining closely to my active Avan. I geared myself up for a research on damages that can be caused from a fall and found the best explanation that suits my understanding ~ AskdrSears.
I have no medical practice whatsoever. I am just a regular mom. This post is my experience and a story to be shared to others hoping it will gain others to benefit the power of reading. Please always consult your doctor in any health issues regarding your baby well being.
Take Care.
