Shawl 3 in 1 : How to tie your shawl

Like I promised. Here's a tutorial on how I tie my shawl baby sling. I hope i described it as neatly as possible.

Especially to my friend Nath and my sister Karen for inspiring me to write about this.

You will need :
# A shawl or any fabric of your choice ( Sarong is great too!)  that is an equal size of a regular shawl.

      # A buckle.  Mine is a coconut shell buckle which I bought for RM4.00 at Jesselton point

Step 1
( There are 4 ends (2 of each left and right )
Take 1 end each of both left and right (opposite) and poke it through 1 hole.
Do the same to the other hole.

It should look like this :

Step 2
Now this is where you have to put on the sling to adjust the length of your carrier.
To do this, first you have to make a ''smiley'' at the bottom (this is where your baby will sit) by adjusting the ends of the shawl. The buckle will assist you just fine.

So put on the sling. the correct length is when the bottom smiley reach your hip at the opposite direction of your shoulder (where the buckle is)

This part will take a while but I promise you'll get through it

Step 3
Once you have determined the desired length, go ahead and tie it securely like so :
( You can tie it any way you want as long as you are happy with the security )

I secured mine by tying once on each opposite ends tightly :

Step 4
Now fold your sling in half and put it on. You are ready to wear your baby!
( if you feel some parts are loose, simply twist/fold the fabric on your shoulder side. it works like magic)

#Now,I have to remind you that wearing your baby wont be as easy as it look. So you may want to spent sometime figuring out how both you and your baby feel comfortable. Yes. Go ahead and put your baby in
and out and in and out again until you find what strategy works best for you#

This is the video tutorial I used to insert Gio in my shawl carrier. Do check them out at www.theslingsisters.com

Here's a picture directory I pulled out from the web to help you out as well.

I hope this post will help you learn more about baby wearing and how we all can appreciate simple creations that bring great benefits to both our baby and ourselves at the same time.

I highly recommend you to do web search on other mommy's DIY baby wearing as there is so much more to learn from them.

and when I needed a break, I just hang on to the shawl and make a fashion statement. Ahaks!

Thanks for dropping by! Cheers to Mommyhood!
