Last April, I finally gave up on myself giving excuses from having Pap Smear test. I was suppose to have it years back but those urban stories kept haunting me. When the midwife offered me to have the test on Avan's Vaccination appointment, I successfully tricked myself by saying "YES".
So, what is a Pap Smear you ask? Let's just say it's a screening test by taking some sample from your cervix to detect any abnormalities. For short, its a mean to detect infections and cervical cancer.
Upon the confirmation of my pap smear appointment, the good nurse explained foremost to me about the procedure and assured me that it was the best thing to do. I was on due after 10 days of my menstrual cycle.
Then, It was time.

I took the test at a government clinic and after a few minutes of registration cum interview and a brief explanation, I was off to the screening bed.
They gave me a few minutes to take off my undies and some time to get comfortable.
Nervous? Definitely!

Then lights on and knee up - gosh, this is so embarrassing!
At this moment, I was asked to relax because they couldn't get the Speculum inside. It wasn't painful, but the exam was sure damn uncomfortable!
AND this is the Speculum that was inserted to open my vaginal canal and a small rubber brush to collect the sample.

It was over in just a few minutes and I guess playing dead really sustained me - a lot.
Still waiting for the result tho, so I suggest you too make a move and stop making excuses.
I did that you should too,
Mummy Vin
