V is for Darling

I'm pretty proud to share my newest workmanship last Sunday. I made Vin a pair of Overall from my old Jean!

I don't know much about sewing "language" So,I'm trying my very best to share how I did it.
Here it is ,Vin's Overall tutorial :

I used Vin's shorts as a pattern.

Trace the pattern on the denim and cut it out.

Turn the Jean inside out.Using safety pins, I attach the raw edges so it's easy to sew it together. Denim Frey so much, so I used a zigzag stitch afterwards.

Turn it over, and it'll look like this.

Next, I cut out about 15" from the Jean balance and detach the seams using a seam ripper. You will get 1 size is bigger than the other. I used the bigger piece for the back and the small piece for the front.

Next, Fold and Iron press about 1" of the raw edges and sew along the folded edge. Do the same for the other piece.

Then I cut out the letter "V" from a felt and hand stitch it on to the front piece. I also used some hot glue to make the letter sturdy.

Now, I sew the front piece with the lower part of the coverall. Do it to both front and back piece, pretty sides together and make sure the pieces are sewn in the middle of the lower pants.

It shall look like this. (I have not sewn the Pants raw edge yet)

Attach buttons. I got these buttons from Supersave,Miri for Rm1.90 / 10pcs.
(I have no idea what type of buttons these are)
Any type of buttons will do well I guess. Get knockin' now.

Make 2 long straps from the other part of the Jean, (always iron press your seams & folds).
I'm using another fabric to compensate the spoiled strap I made earlier.

Once you get the right measurement, attach both straps to the back piece.
Here, I add a short piece of elastic to both front ends so the button can slip through it.
Then, fold the raw edge (hip part ) inside, iron press and sew.

And, done done!

It fits Vin just nice. Well... too nice actually that I doubt he can wear it till July. Ransacking hubby's closet for a bigger Jean that is.

Well, what do you guys think?
